Use of Neti Pot with weak Thyme Tea/water solution

For use for relief: If suffering from a sinus mucus congestion, sinus infection, seasonal allergen inflammation, nasal polyps,  a neti pot is a useful time honored tool. In fact, many doctors recommend using a neti pot for general nasal congestion as well as colds, allergies and sinus infections.

A neti pot is used for nasal irrigation. Nasal irrigation may sound strange, but it’s simply the act of flushing out your nasal cavity and sinuses. In addition to clearer more open breathing through their noses, regular neti pot users report a better sense of smell and taste after a neti pot session.

  • chronic sinus infections
  • sinus congestion
  • acute bacterial sinus infections

  • viral upper respiratory infections

USE ONLY:

Distilled or sterile water, which you can buy in stores. The label will state “distilled” or “sterile.”

OR....

Boiled and cooled tap water — boiled for 3 to 5 minutes, then cooled until it is lukewarm. Previously boiled water can be stored in a clean, closed container for use within 24 hours.

DO NOT USE TAP water that has not been boiled & cooled.

Information included with the neti pot will give specific instructions about its use and care.

Leaning over a sink, tilt your head sideways with your forehead and chin roughly level to avoid liquid flowing into your mouth.

Breathing through your open mouth, insert the spout of the saline-filled container into your upper nostril so that the liquid drains through the lower nostril.

Clear your nostrils. Then repeat the procedure, tilting your head sideways, on the other side.

To use and care for your neti pot :

Wash and dry your hands before use.

Check that the neti pot is clean and completely dry.

Prepare the weakly brewed Thyme Tea.  (Use a fine stainless steel tea infuser & to avoid any plant debris remaining in the liquid, strain if needed through a clean dry cotton cloth or cheesecloth). Let the Thyme tea/infusion cool to lukewarm before using in the neti pot.

After use, wash the neti pot, and dry the inside with a paper towel &  let it air dry between uses. Sterilize with boiling water periodically to ensure cleanliness. Do not store in a plastic bag.

When used appropriately, the conventional medicine world agrees with holistic and Ayurvedic medicine practitioners. Neti pots are awesome at relieving nasal congestion for all kinds of reasons, including allergies, the common cold, sinus infections and pregnancy. source: https://draxe.com/health/neti-pot/
