  • Chickory root is packed with the prebiotic fiber inulin - It acts as a prebiotic, meaning that it feeds the beneficial bacteria in your gut. These helpful bacteria play a role in reducing inflammation, fighting harmful bacteria, and improving mineral absorption. In particular, studies suggest that inulin can relieve constipation and promote healthy digestion and elimination.

Chicory root : Understanding the Effects and Effectors of This Functional Food - Inulin, the main component of the Chicory root, has already been the subject of studies, showing its exclusively prebiotic effect [2]. In this work, fructose, CGA and STL were tested in daily administration in mice, and a set of analyses were performed. The gene expression profile of the experimental animals, following the different diets, indicated several deregulated biological functions, leading to several putative health effects: anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial effect, and metabolic effect concerning bile acid biosynthesis, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, appetite regulation and intestinal absorption. A regulatory effect has also been observed in many genes affecting neuronal and sensory development, suggesting a regulation of energy homeostasis. In addition, anti-xenobiotic and antioxidant effects were also observed.

Blue Cornflower Petals also known as Bachelor’s Button, have traditionally been used to improve digestion, regulate the gall bladder, liver and kidneys as well as for menstrual disorders and to increase resistance to infections. The dried flowers are antipruritic, antitussive, astringent, weakly diuretic, emmenagogue, ophthalmic, very mildly purgative, and tonic. Cornflower tea can help alleviate anxiety, decrease stress, and treat symptoms of depression and other nervous system disorders. It can help improve digestion, offer relief from constipation symptoms and improve bowel motions. On top of that, it is a gentle diuretic that helps to regulate kidney function. This also makes it an excellent herb for shedding water weight. It also helps improve immunity and prevent infections, helping to treat fevers.
